The Rules of Adswaps

By Paul Wilson

Hey guys,

I haven’t posted here for a while as I have been busy creating my video series as per my last post.

These should be available to ALL that left me a comment within the next week or so, and public release within 2 weeks :-)

I wanted to create this video for you today …

If you are using adswaps as one of the ways to build your list, this if for you!

I just wanted to touch on my experiences and, in my opinion, the do’s and don’ts …

As always I would love to hear your comments, and if you want to set up an adswap feel free to leave me a comment or email me through my contact me page :-)

Talk soon,

Paul

  2. Hey Paul,

Great timing on the video, for me anyway. slick presentation Paul, wow, love it……do you use a mac? love to know the slides, ppt?

BTW, there were some valuable lessons in there, thanks Paul.

EVP looks so good too, must grab a copy asap.

    • Paul Wilson says:

      Thanks Sean,

Yeah I use a mac, and generated these slides using Keynote which is apple’s answer to powerpoint.

In my opinion, the slides look much slicker than powerpoint too :-)

You gotta get EVP also, it’s a real must have tool. I’m going to be putting up a review of it soon also so keep your eye out.

      Speak to you soon man!

      Paul

  3. Thats a great video Paul! What software did you use to create it?

If you continue like this in a couple of months you will have a list size of 10,000 subscribers!

However I am just curious with so many adswaps how will your subscribers act when you promote something. All these months they ‘ve been used to free offers..

    my 2 cents… :)

    • Paul Wilson says:

      Hey Andreas,

Thanks man, I used a combination of keynote and iMovie on my mac. Then put the video up using Easy Video Player which can be found at …

      http://whoispaulwilson.com/Special/EasyVideo/

Yeah my list seems to be growing gradually. I have a few plans in place to take people from the freebie stage onto other offers so I’ll see how that pans out! My list does seem to be fairly responsive though, so I’ll see how it goes for now ;-)

      Talk soon,

      Paul

      Hey Simon,

That’s great, I hope your swap goes well! What is your list size at the moment? Let me know and we can hook something up once you have a reasonable size …

I have just started to use Easy Video Player, which is an awesome tool and you can embed paypal buttons and opt-in forms etc. It’s VERY powerful :-)

I will be putting up a review when I have got into it a bit more, but for now you can find it at …

      http://whoispaulwilson.com/Special/EasyVideo/

This is what I have used to embed the above video.

      Hope this helps ;-)

  5. Paul Lear says:

    Hey Paul,

I see you’re back from Vegas, look forward to hearing how that was in your next post I presume? ;)

Great video with some good tips, as you know I’ve only been doing adswaps for about a month, so it’s good to hear some tips from someone who has a bit more experience at them.

I haven’t been stung by anyone yet, but that’s probably because I’m being cautious after it nearly happened with someone I didn’t know very well.

I’ve had quite a few PM’s on the warrior forum too from people that I can see right through, so I’ve ignored them.

I’ll catch up with you on Skype soon.

      Hey Paul,

Yeah back from Vegas … still recovering ;-)

Yeah you just need to be careful who you swap with. People are fine generally in the skype group, but I have had a few dodgy ones from the warrior forum :-(

I will post here about Vegas just as soon as I get a couple of other things finished. It’s a hectic week, but I’ll squeeze it in somewhere!

      Talk soon mate,

      Paul

  6. Rob Brooks says:

  9. Jeff Sargent says:

    Hey Paul,

Great tips on Adswaps Paul. I’m not an expert either on them as I’ve only done 4 but they’ve all been good as they were all within the Skype group.

I just don’t understand people sometimes. What makes them think they will get away with lying to you. It’s your reputation we’re talking about here and if you screw it up with one, word will get around not to do any adswaps with you.

What’s so hard about being honest?

A subtle hint. My list is at 1100 and I do adswaps. I’m in the Skype Group.

      Hey Jeff,

Yeah as long as you stick to known sources you are pretty much ok. I have taken a few chances with people outside … most have been fine, but a few have backfired on me. It’s annoying, but just gotta keep it pushing forward :-)

Give me a shout on skype and we’ll hook up a swap sometime soooooon!! ;-)

  10. David Walker says:

    Hey Paul,

Great video – you are getting to be quite the video marketing expert!

Adswaps are an incredible way to build your list but they are also fraught with pitfalls so thank you for addressing them!

It was great to finally meet you in Vegas as well, hopefully it won’t be too long before we all meet up again!

    Hi Paul,

Great content.. its nice to see that some people concentrate on the marketing rather than just the money :)

I’ve got a list of just over 1200 active subscribers and love the idea of adswaps… a real way to grow your list in a BIG way.

Look forward to seeing more of your vids!

Yeah adswaps are a great way to build your list, and drive traffic. If you haven’t done one yet, I would recommend them ;-)

      Talk soon,

      Paul

  13. I have not started email campaigning for my website, but I want to…the problem is I haven’t any list of subscribers or people to whom I should my email to…if I use adswaps..will it help me in building the list from scratch???

    • Paul Wilson says:

      Hey there,

No you will need to build a seed list to enable you to swap to begin with. Normally a couple of hundred is enough to get you started, and this can be done using giveaways, safelists, blog traffic etc.

There are several sites out there with people willing to swap, but generally people swap with similar list sizes, or lists producing a similar amount of clicks.

With adswapping, you are effectively exchanging traffic so you will need to have a small list to begin with.

I hope that answers your question ;-)

      Cheers!

      Paul
