Press Release – worth it…or not?
ByHey guys,
Well, it’s been just over a week since I submitted my Press Release, and I wanted to update you on the results as promised
The official stats from prweb as of Saturday (exactly one week after release) are that I have received 899 reads of it on the official prweb website. This does not account for reads that have occurred elsewhere (if any!)
I had no idea of what to expect with this…
BUT I am pretty happy with it so far.
So what has this resulted in clicks to my blog?
Well, google analytics has shown 162 unique visitors from prweb itself (over the same period), but overall my traffic seems to have increased to the direct link on my site and I have no idea of where these are coming from.
My graphs have definitely take a hike northwards since this release, so I can only presume many more are coming as a direct result from this
It’s pretty COOL to see it starting to appear around the internet
I recently found it in Yahoo News here

Well the traffic is STILL trickling in from this, and I can only presume that this will continue to do so and hopefully increase in the coming weeks.
All in all I think it was a worthwhile exercise, but will just keep monitoring all my traffic as normal!
In the week since my Press Release went live, I have received just over 200 downloads to my ebook
Some of these came from the press release…
AND some from other sources but this is really cool I think you’ll agree?
That’s it for now, let me know your thoughts!
Paul
P.S. I will be updating my “JV Giveaway Events” page this afternoon, so make sure you join them ALL and get your list building FAST!!

Hey Paul,
If you google the title of your Press release, you should find a lot of other sites that have repruduced your press release on their site as a news item.
I’ve haven’t checked myself, but tha’t probably where you’re getting the extra traffice from.
BTW – It was a very well wriiten release.
Talk soon buddy,
Andrew.
Andrew Vaughan´s last blog ..Is Your Strategy Online, Right for Online Marketing Success?
Hey Andrew,
Yes I have done a google search and found quite a few pages with my PR on already, but this didn’t explain the direct links to my blog. I would have thought these originating pages would have been recorded in google analytics.
Ah well, the traffic is starting to flow which was the aim, so that’s all good
Take care mate,
Paul
I agree with Andrew…super job on the writing of the release.
Glad it’s worked out so well for you.
Out of curiosity…what did it cost?
Cheers,
Rod

Thanks Rod,
I can’t take all the credit for the PR as it was outsourced, but I was pleased with the result
I went for the $200 option, which is the most common, AND the one Alex recommended! There are about 4 different ones I think, but this seemed to give maximum exposure for what I wanted, although there is one more above this one where you can embed video also.

Paul
Great news and results, as the others said a well written piece but certainly pleasing to see the results and traffic spike. Looks to me to be $200 well spent, Ill have to look into PRweb in more detail….
Tom
Hey Tom,
Yes it’s definitely worth looking into
They do a free option also, but I wanted maximum exposure out of this so decided to go for the paid option!
Take care,
Paul

Hey Paul,
Glad to hear it has gone well, I said you might get mentioned on Yahoo news, and you have!
And 200 d/loads of your book, and 162 unique visitors is great!
I will have to do one of these myself at some point, as it definitely seems worth it. So thanks for the feedback on this, it has been very helpful for us all.
Paul.

Hi again Paul,
Well done on such a successful press release, 200 downloads isn’t bad going and with traffic still coming through you should be looking at a few more, not to mention all those valuable back links
.
Just grabbed a copy of your eBook myself and will let you know how I get on.
Thanks Paul and take it easy,

Hi Paul,
Thanks for posting your great results with the press release.
I was wondering if it was a paid one or not and now I know.
Did you say you outsourced it? I wonder how much that cost but probably nearly not as much as the actual releasing of it.
I will probably try the free ones first and hopefully learn how to write them myself.
But knowing that doing paid press releases works well is good to know.
I really appreciate your sharing all the numbers.
Now I’m off to read the press release.

Hey Vance,
Glad it was helpful!
The Press Release cost me $4 to have written. I have found a guy that produces quality articles, and now this. I am very happy with his work so far

Paul,
That is awesome. I have not done a press release yet, and I had no idea that it could be so beneficial! Another great place to get traffic from is the Internet Marketing Newswatch website. It’s url is imnewswatch.com. -Norene

Hey Paul,
Pretty good results from that press release. I’ll be curious how long that traffic trickles in from it.
Your Alexa rank has improved by 3200% in the last 3 months. That must be a direct result from this press release.
If I ever release my own product (which I must do) I will have to look into doing a press release.
Great job Paul. Keep us posted if the traffic keeps rolling in.

Yes, I am keeping an eye on the traffic, and I am still getting a trickle in from this
I think my Alexa ranking is a combination of many things, but I am pretty pleased with the results it has generated!
I would recommend Press Releases to anyone wanting to get that surge of traffic to their sites, and I’ll be keeping an eye on the traffic it has produced over the coming weeks and keep you posted
Take care,
Paul
