Module 4 – Social Media Money – Blog Traffic and my Plans this Week!
ByHi all,
I just wanted to write this post to update you on Module 4 and where I am going with it…I am a few days behind here BUT I do have a reason…
It’s been a kinda funny few days really one thing and another…we went away for the weekend to see some friends on Thursday. On Friday we went out for the day, and on Saturday, 6 out of 7 of us came down with a sickness bug and we were all ill (which wasn’t all that much fun I can tell you!) We had planned loads of stuff for the weekend, and it ended up being a no go area, certainly in that household!!!!…
Anyway, back to business…I missed the coaching call on Thursday, and have been catching up on this and PLANNING my week out since yesterday. Remember that most important part of this business again…yes…PLANNING!!
Module 4 was all about Social Media and ways to drive traffic back to your blog. Alex Jeffreys gave us a few ideas, and I will be going through them in just a minute (hold on!)
What a Competition….?
As part of this module, Alex Jeffreys has launched a competition starting last Thursday the 30th July, running for 2 weeks until Friday the 14th August. He is paying the person with the most visits to their blog in this timeframe $1000, which is nothing to be sniffed at
If nothing else, this is a great way of making sure we ALL get out butts into gear and get ourselves out there!
The rules of this are…
- We MUST have google analytics installed
- We MUST post on our blogs about how we’re driving traffic, and the methods we’re using etc
Obviously I am only starting as we speak, so am no doubt a bit behind other students but I will be doing my best to catch up
Here are some of the things I will be getting my teeth into just as soon as I have finished writing this…
Oil Rig Hopping
This is a great concept, and involves taking a look at other people’s blogs within your niche, and ADDING VALUE through commenting. This gets your blog linked from the site you are commenting on and will result in people clicking through to your site
Especially on HIGH TRAFFIC blogs!
Remember, anyone can post comments like “Nice Blog”, “Great Post!” etc, AND tbh the masses do! Many people even go to the lengths of “pimping their sh*t”, and I don’t know about you, but these people have no hope of a click through from me.
This does not get your comment to stand out, and so what would be the benefit of someone clicking through to your site?? Think about it!! First impressions are everlasting, so make sure they are a good one and make you STAND OUT!
I am planning to hit 10+ blogs per day, hit the masses, and start to get my name and site out there!!
BE WARNED I WILL FIND YOU
REMEMBER, focus on building a business to ADD VALUE, the money will follow
Existing list
I will be inviting my existing subscribers to visit my blog and add value. Hopefully this post is valuable to them!
At the time of writing this, I currently have 22,124 followers. I will be adding new followers, and posting on twitter this week (without the usual twitter spam as many others like to do!) This will get people to click through the link in my profile…hence MORE traffic!
YouTube
As you are probably aware from my previous posts, I have set up my YouTube channel which can be found here. I am already visiting other YouTube channels, adding friends and commenting on my findings and things are growing pretty quick…go check it out! Even now, this had generated over 40 visitors to my blog in the last 2 weeks alone. As my friend and subscriber base grows, this will start the SNOWBALL effect, just like everything else I will be doing here!
YouTube Statistics & Data
This is a little section below each video in YouTube, which shows where the traffic for that video has been generated from. For example, the video I have embedded here on this blog will show how many hits have been generated from here
A nice little tip from Alex there, as this enables me to look at high traffic videos, and find out where the traffic is coming from. If it’s a blog, or somewhere I can comment, I’ll be heading over to ADD VALUE by the way of a comment thus adding a link back to my blog
Warrior Forum
I will be posting and commenting on the Warrior Forum, with my blog URL in the signature line. This should get some people clicking back to my blog also…
As with all these things I am looking at, I WILL be posting results here just as soon as I have them, with what WORKS and what DOESN’T WORK.
Keep checking back for results…or even better subscribe to my RSS feed or get my FREE List Building eBook, and I will keep you updated by email also
As always, please comment with your feedback, I really do appreciate your thoughts
I will post again on Thursday with the results so far…good or bad
Until then
Paul

Superb comprehensive summary of the module, I too missed it and have been playing catch up somewhat, partly due to being in the UK (and the tendency for the Webinars to go on until 3/4am due to volume of content) but also fitting it in and around full time work commitments (for the time being anyway!).
Looks like it was the worse one to fall behind on given the competition, and my own issues with the blog. Will be giving it a good go though so please stop over and see how things are developing.
Thanks
Tom
Hi Tom,
I know what you mean, I am based in the UK also, and those late ones can be a killer when you’ve got to get up for work the next day!!
Heading over to your blog now
Take care,
Paul
Hi Paul,
I so agree with you, I feel so behind everyone as well. I have been working non-stop then when I get home, I am so exhausted, I just fall on the couch. So you’re right, we have to catch up.
I learned in my other eLearning class that getting listed in directores is a good way to bring traffic. And I know that there are a few blog directories out there. I don’t know how good that they are, because I am only listed in three so far.
I think that another traffic generator is article marketing and I bet that Alex will cover this in our next live event. I plan on writing these on a blog post soon.
Hope you’re feeling better,
Karen
Hey Karen,
Feeling much better now thanks
just a 24 hour sickness, but it just knocks you for a couple of days…
I have caught up pretty much now, I will be posting again tomorrow to let you know my progress, but am just doing all I can to drive the traffic over here for the moment
Hope you’re on your way to that 100 hits a day mark!!
Talk soon,
Paul
Paul,
Hope you’re all feeling better.
Yep great stuff from Alex. I’m a total blockhead when it comes to learning new things. Thanks for reminding me yet again about Oil Rig hopping.
Great YouTube stats… Let me know your Youtube system when you get a chance.
Rob,
Hey Rob,
Feeling much better now thanks
I am using a piece of software to add friends to YouTube, then sending messages etc manually to the people that reply to me. That way it’s not too “spammy”, as I am just sending out friend requests. It seems to work well, and drive people back to my channel. The ones that are interested can then subscribe or send me a message!
Let me know if you want to know more and I will fill you in
Talk soon,
Paul
Hi Paul,
You give some great traffic methods here and all will generate flow to your site. 22,000 Twitter followers is a lot, and can be a great resource for you too. There has been a lot of discussion lately about the miss use of Twitter and all the SPAMming going on there, it’s a shame to see such a powerful media get used in the wrong way by so many.
I have certainly been awakened to the power of video and I really think this is the way forward now. A very powerful concept and I am not surprised to see Maria Andros make so much from her videos.
Thanks Paul, I’m off for more oil rig hopping now
Cheers,
Paul
Thanks Paul,
Yes I am just starting to utilise twitter to a greater extent. I have built the following, but until now not really done much with them.
Thanks for stopping by,
Paul
I agree that planning is the most important thing (and I HATE planning).
Planning is chaing the way I work online and is starting to have a major change in my effectivness.
Good luck with your traffic generation
- Gil
p.s. I love your writing style
Hey Gil,
Thanks for your comments, they really are appreciated!
Heading back over to your blog now to see what you’ve been up to
Paul
Hi Paul,
It sounds like you had Module Four nailed and have identified some sure fire ways of attracting new visitors to your blog.
Commenting on other blogs and participating on relevant forums are two excellent ways to get a flow of fresh faces visiting you and the potential for using Twitter and Youtube for promotion is just huge!
Exciting times!
David
Hi David,
Yes, these methods are proving very fruitful at the moment. I am looking into new strategies all the time so will keep you posted!
Thanks for stopping by
Paul
Paul,
Very nice blog site. I find your postings very useful and use some of what I learn on my business.
