How to add an opt-in form to your WordPress blog
By Paul WilsonHi All,
I been asked a couple of questions about how to add an opt-in form to a
wordpress blog, so I thought I would explain…
The video pretty much explains things without me typing a huge post,
but just ask if you need help!
One other thing I have beed asked, is how to add an image to the above
form. An example can be seen on the right with my List Building opt-in
form. This is not included in the video, but basically the following
code just needs to be added before or after your autoresponder code
depending on where you want the image.
<div align=”center”><img
src=”http://www.YOURDOMAIN/YOURIMAGE.JPG” border=”0″
height=”48″ width=”200″ /></div>
<div align=”center”>
</div>
Just change to code to point to the image on your server.
Any problems, just ask!
Paul

Paul,
Quick and simple to follow. Thanks for showing how to do a link widget in the sidebar
with WordPress..

Hi Paul,
I’m on the Alex Jeffreys coaching programme with you.
Really interested in your video here on adding an opt-in form.
The code is derived from your Aweber account – understand that bit, but how is it generated?
Be very interested in the answer – thanks,
Andrew.
Hi Andrew,
You need to “generate” an opt-in form in aweber. I use GetResponse so it will be slightly different, but exactly the same principles. Basically it will be the same code that you inserted into your Profit Pulling Platform to capture the email address for the capture page. Just take that chunck of html and insert it as per the video and you’re ready to go.
If you still have problems, feel free to contact me again and I would be happy to talk you through it!

Hey Paul,
Haha, just spotted my mugshot on your video

Paul
Forgot to say thanks for your help my friend,
I found a different way without an optin form as the squeeze page already captures emails anyway.
how ya doing anyway?

Hey Marcus,
No worries, I’m glad I was of some help. Like you say there are many other ways you can do it, but what you’ve done looks pretty cool!

Paul
Hi Paul,
Wow, I wish I would have found this post a few days ago, it sure would have helped. The video is to the point & really very helpful for anyone to follow. I’ve been checking out your blog & I see that you’re having a new header designed-I’ll need to pop back & see that!
I wish you the best, Paul-take care,
Joann
Thanks Joann,
If there’s anything else I can help you with, or you want me to record some more videos just SHOUT

Great video Paul, I had no idea you could do that with the text widget. It was just one of those that had ignored. It should come in useful for the future.
Thanks for the useful info.
Take care,
Paul.
Thanks Paul, I hope it comes in useful!

Hi Paul
I’m still not sure about adding an image but I’ll probably work it out, I like your blog mate very professional looking and slick. How do you get all the images and things down the right hand side bar, hope I don’t sound too thick but blogs are new to me :-{ are they done with widgets too?, keep up the good work mate
I too am on Alexs’ coaching course and found your blog via
you tube, I have been struggling with trying to put an opt in form on my blog but now I think I have found the answer thanks
Terry Weatherill
Hey Terry
Thanks for stopping by, I’m glad you found it useful!
Basically, any picture or video can be displayed in the sidebar using the same principles I described for the opt-in form.
Just use a text widget, and drop in any piece of html you need, whether this be for a picture or a banner or whatever.
I hope this helps, give me a shout if you need a hand

Hey Satrap,
I have not had anything to do with MailChimp in the past, but being a free service this may not be something that they offer in their package…
I use Aweber, and would thoroughly recommend them. I know this method will work with any autoresponder as long as you have the html code to insert into your blog.
Can you add an opt-in form to your website with it? If so, it will be the same code so use that.
Sorry I can’t be anymore help!

hey paul thanks for the info, i heard a lot about Aweber, but since i am just getting my feet wet and don’t have any experience or any plan as to how to make use of the list, i am kind of wanting to use the free sources, which Mail chimp seems to be a good one with a limit of 500 subscriber a month and 3000 email. but any way i’ll look into AwEber again and who knows maybe i’ll change my mind. thank you so much for the respond. i like bloggers who value their readers as i try to do on my blog, so i will be watching your blog for new updates. thanks.
Hey Satrap,
I understand what you mean, but if you use a product that will take you right through your journey you will be better off in the long run.
Many of the top autoresponder systems have to have VERY specific data to be able to import subscribers from other systems. I recently moved to Aweber, and lost many subscribers in the process for this very reason. You may find that at a later date these subscribers are useless to you because you can’t import them into another system.
Just thought I would let you know of my own personal experience, so you can decide the best option for you
Take care,
Paul
hey paul thanks for caring enough to take time and explain it to me, not many people do that. but any how yeah what your saying makes sense and i actually heard the same logic from many experienced people like your self, on the forums that i participate in. so i guess i will be look into it deeper and maybe go with a paid one. any how thank you so much.

Hey Paul,
I used getresponse to do this and I aI followed all of your instructions but people are not able to click in to the form and fill out the information. I was wondering if there is only a small part of the ocde that I had to paste or the whole thing or if there could be any other reason for this?
Thanks,
Matt
Hey Matt,
Thanks for stopping by
It seems to be that this only works on a blog hosted on your own server, and I noticed that you are not.
I didn’t realise this when I recorded the video, but I haven’t seen anyone that has managed to get this to work on blogs hosted by third party blog companies
If you have your own blog installed on your server it works fine, but apart from that it’s a no go I’m afraid … it’s nothing to do with you or the code, it just doesn’t work for some reason.
Let me know if you manage to find a solution …

Thank you for the video. What is the process if you are not posting an image of a report or something but have graphics for your opt-in form.
I see the code you have for the an image but what if there are multiple images that make up the whole image? Would that go before or after the autoresponder code or if in the code there are images before and after would it go in both places?
thank you
Hey Jon,
This example just shows adding the code taken from aweber and inserting into your blog. If there are multiple images making up one image, I would imagine you would need to photoshop them together to make 1 image in order for them to display correctly.
If you have multiple separate images, you could just include these before or after depending on how you want them displayed.
Remember, this just enables you to place in ANY piece of html code, so whatever you can do on a webpage, you can do here (space permitting)
I hope this answers your question
Cheers,
Paul
