It’s been a bit quiet on here over the last couple of months!

We’ve been busy setting up our new site, so thought I’d just give you a quick update …

I’ve been working with my good buddy Rob Bradley on our new site, where we have pulled some of the BEST unknown parts of aweber, and put tutorials together for them.  We have pulled some awesome tracking code into it too!  This enables you to track every optin on any site, and exactly where it came from WITHOUT setting up new pages and forms for each one.

This is just so cool !

I actually met Rob in Vegas earlier in the year, and  we’ve become good mates!  Here’s a pic of us having a beer working … LOL

It seems that beer is a compulsory part of marketing!!

We put blood sweat and tears into this product, and we’re VERY proud of it!
We’ve only had it out there officially for around a week, and apart from a few teething issues with the script, the feedback we have received back from people has just blown us away!!

It seems to be converting really well too, although we’ll be tweaking this to get the best results on an ongoing basis.

Even though I think we could have sold this for MUCH more, we decided to set it for $7 with 100% going to affiliates.

I have been looking at sending a survey to my list for quite a while now, but haven’t mainly due to finding the right platform at the RIGHT PRICE!

I looked at various options, and Survey Monkey seemed to be one that many people use.  The only trouble with it is that you can only have 100 responses on the free option.  This would have probably been enough, but I didn’t really want to start paying for their services (yeah I like things FREE if I can … LOL)

I didn’t actually realise you could do this, but after looking around I found that you could pretty much do the same thing using Google Documents

Basically you can create a form which sits on top of a spreadsheet, and you can pull all the information out with some really cool pie charts, graphs, and all sorts of fancy stuff!!

I just wanted to create this video showing you exactly how to do it!

If you’re like me, it will have been something that has been on your mind for a while, but now I know how easy they are to create I will create more of them!

Today I wanted to touch on a subject that I think is VERY important …

BUT …

For some reason, not enough people seem to be doing it!!

Are you backing up your Aweber or autoresponder account?

We ALL know that the largest asset of our online business is our email list, so why do people overlook this?

I know many of you will have external drives plugged into your computers and back up everything you do, but are still not backing up your autoresponder account.  You know how much effort has gone into building this, so I just wanted to create a quick video to show you how to do this in Aweber.

The great thing is, Aweber not only backs up your email addresses, but also your broadcast and sequence messages, email lists … basically everything!

It literally takes 2 minutes (if that), so do yourself a favour and put a task in your calendar to do this once a week.  I know of at least one person that has lost their Aweber list for one reason or another.

Don’t let this be YOU…!!  Back up NOW!

Hey people,

It’s been a couple of weeks since my last post, but I just wanted to get your feedback on something …

I am sure many of you will have different views on this, and I would love to hear them.

I seem to be hearing quite a lot about whether people are using double opt-in, or whether they are using single opt-in for their list building activities …

I have been using double opt-in since my list started, but I notice many people that I speak to regularly are swapping to single opt-in …

OR have built their list using entirely single opt-in.

Admittedly, there is a large percentage of people that don’t actually click the link in the email sent to them for the double opt-in process.

I would say 25-30% of all subscribers don’t confirm their email address …

This is due to people either putting in a false email address, they’re not actually that interested in the information, they don’t realise they have to (even though they get a message that is VERY clear on what they have to do), or purely that they can’t be bothered or forget.

Oh, and one more thing … Aweber seem to take quite a long time to send out the confirmation email.  Maybe only 20-30 seconds which isn’t long on one hand, BUT if someone is there waiting for it that’s way too long in my opinion!!

Why does it take them so long to deliver it?

The only trouble with single opt-in, is that it leaves you wide open to spam complaints, and people putting in false email addresses in order to download your  ebook or whatever.

In the past people have always advised me to go for double opt-in as this is much safer, but I wanted to post here to get your views.

(I’m sure you have one!!)

I am not saying that I am going to change to single opt-in, and I am not saying that I will stick with double opt-in forever either …

BUT, I would like YOUR feedback on the methods YOU use to build your list …

Do you use single or double opt-in?

Have you had any negative effects from using single opt-in (or double for that matter)?

What are your thoughts, whether you are building a list right now, or you are a subscriber to people’s lists?

It seems that single opt-in lists build twice as fast, BUT does a double opt-in list weed out the less serious people by default?

Hey guys,

A bit belated, but as you may or may not know I have just come back from a few days in Vegas

Well I have actually been back for around 10 days but had some other pressing stuff to deal with …

It took me a few days to get back to reality, but I’m back and full steam ahead!!

I just wanted to write this post to give you a quick insight into Vegas, why I was there, and what I got up to …

Well, I flew out from the UK on Fri 22nd January with my good online friend Marcus Passey.

On the flight we met up with Garry Parkes too which was cool!

After a 10 hour flight we arrived in Las Vegas at 2pm in the afternoon where we got a Limo to out hotel (no expense spared … LOL!!)

We spent the rest of the day chilling and meeting up with other students, and on the Saturday made our way over to the MGM Grand hotel where Mike Filsaime and many other top marketers were hanging out!!

In the evening, we were invited to a club where Mike Filsaime layed on a VIP party!!  Free drinks (if you like vodka …)

Let’s just say it was a VERY early morning … but great to meet some of the gurus of the business!

Enough said on that for now …

On Sunday afternoon, we went shootin’ some guns …

We decided driving ferraris was a bad idea in our hungover state … guns though … great idea … LOL

It was freakin’ awesome I have to say!  It’s the first time I have even held a gun!

The main reason for being in Vegas was to attend Alex Jeffreys’s workshop which started on the Monday for two days.  This for me was a great opportunity to meet and network with many of his students past and present along with some other “celebrity” friends.

It all started off with a presentation from Alex himself, just giving an overview of where we are now … Awesome work Alex!

Garry Parkes was doing the intros, and generally making an fanbtastic job of keeping things on time and to plan.

We had two presentations from Stephanie Mulac.  This is the first time I have met stephanie, and I have to say I was very impressed with her presentations.  I have lined up a couple of things for my business as a result.

Jit Upal also made a presentation on list building and adswaping.  This guy is just a genius, and it is amazing to see what he has achieved over the last 12 months!

Adam Speil and Dean Holland also did a presentation on their Turbo Traffic System.  Again, these guys have come a long way and definitely an inspiration to us ALL!  Take note guys!

I also had the privilege of meeting Roger Hyatt from the adswap skype channel which was cooool

There are too many people to mention here, but it was well worth the trip from both a learning standpoint, and also those all important meetings at the bar (oh I mean networking … lol)

I have made many MORE online friends as a result

Hey Peeps,

Well, it’s been nearly a month since my last post … (boy how time flies!) … and I just wanted to give you an update of my progress and my plans over the next few weeks …

My list is currently standing at just under 2200 subscribers

I have pretty much been doing much of the same since my last post with regards to list building, and things are starting to move forward much quicker now …

As part of my listbuilding efforts, I have started offering Dean Holland’s “Google Traffic System” as part of my opt-in process.  For those of you that know Dean, you will know the amount of time and effort that he has put into this … and that the quality is top notch, over delivering as always

He is even including his entire coaching program for free as part of this.  If you haven’t already, head over and at least grab the free interview that Dean has done with Lee McIntyre!!

This has resulted in 17 signups to his program in the last 3 weeks alone which is just awesome!

Over the next few weeks, I am planning on creating a video series to complement my ebook “7 Step Success Formula”.  You can download this over to the right of the page if you haven’t already

Just look at all the glowing comments my readers have left!

The exact content of these videos is not entirely fixed at the moment, and I would like you to leave me a comment RIGHT HERE letting me know of things related to my book that you would like me to expand on.  EVERYONE who leaves me a comment will receive a FREE copy of these videos as soon as they are available …

At this second in time, my mailing list stands at 1302 people, and I thought I would write a quick post on how I have achieved this so quickly…

from NOTHING!

My first subscriber on Aweber was on the 22 August 2009. Previous to that I had an account with GetResponse, of which I only managed to move around 20 people over from. Many were VERY old and some were imported from lists etc in a previous lifetime!  I moved to Aweber for the enhanced functionality that they offer over and above other auto responder systems.

So how have I achieved over 1300 subscribers in 9 weeks?

Firstly, I have a ViralHosts account. This is a free hosting program on the surface of it, but you get the ability to email 3000 members every 3 days if you upgrade to the Gold package (which I have done off the back of a VERY high recommendation). This is a OTO of $197.

My first Viral Hosts mailing promoting my 7 Step Success Formula ebook brought me in 72 subscribers (YES you read that correctly) within a couple of days. This has dropped somewhat, but I rarely average less that 30 DOUBLE opt-ins every 3 days from this (It’s mostly 30-40 subscribers!)

Pretty cool HUH?!

ListJoe is another program I am a member of. This also has an upgrade option which works similar to ViralHosts, but I am a free member and will continue to be as I have not found the response to be anywhere near that of ViralHosts.

Even so, you can earn credits by visiting other sites, and mail people once a week from this. This basically equates to around 2000 mailings per week if you visit ALL sites within the emails you receive,  bringing me in another 10 subscribers or so.

You may argue that the quality of these leads are not up to scratch, but I have had 2 upgrades on the Listbuilding With Alex PPP at $47 a pop (and I have only promoted it ONCE to my Viral Hosts list). I normally promote my “7 Step Success Formula” ebook.

I have also been joining pretty much every Giveaway Event I can find, although I do go through stages with this. I am trying to keep my page updated with any new events also. In all honesty, I haven’t found these to bring in bucket loads of subscribers (although I haven’t upgraded many of them), but a slow trickle of a few a day…they all add up

Lastly, I have been doing adswaps at least twice a week ever since I had 400 ish subscribers. I haven’t done any for a couple of days now, BUT will be planning these every 2 days (possibly more) and seeing how this goes!

My plan was 1000 subscribers by the end of October (it’s NOW 1302!!!!), and 3000 by the end of the year. This equates to around 30 subscribers a day from now until the end of the year, which I think can be done easily with all the above in place, and I will be pushing this number FURTHER if I can

Anyway that’s just a quick insight into my list building strategies so far

Just remember to do everything you can to help get your list built FAST. Every little helps, and across many strategies this can soon add up to a ton of subscribers.

I think my best day so far has been 88 opt-ins in a single day…that was a COOOOOL day

We have ALL been told or heard at some stage “The Money is in the List”…

Always remember this, it should be one of your MOST IMPORTANT tasks online!!!

Hey guys,

Well, it’s been just over a week since I submitted my Press Release, and I wanted to update you on the results as promised

The official stats from prweb as of Saturday (exactly one week after release) are that I have received 899 reads of it on the official prweb website.  This does not account for reads that have occurred elsewhere (if any!)

I had no idea of what to expect with this…

BUT I am pretty happy with it so far.

So what has this resulted in clicks to my blog?

Well, google analytics has shown 162 unique visitors from prweb itself (over the same period), but overall my traffic seems to have increased to the direct link on my site and I have no idea of where these are coming from.

My graphs have definitely take a hike northwards since this release, so I can only presume many more are coming as a direct result from this

It’s pretty COOL to see it starting to appear around the internet

I recently found it in Yahoo News here

Well the traffic is STILL trickling in from this, and I can only presume that this will continue to do so and hopefully increase in the coming weeks.

All in all I think it was a worthwhile exercise, but will just keep monitoring all my traffic as normal!

In the week since my Press Release went live, I have received just over 200 downloads to my ebook

Some of these came from the press release…

AND some from other sources but this is really cool I think you’ll agree?

As you may or may not know, I have been talking about doing it for a couple of weeks…

YES, I have finally got round to releasing my FIRST Press Release!

It only went live this morning, so I have no real results to show for it so far.

Oh, apart from the PR is on the front page of google for the search Paul Wilson, which is pretty cool with a common name such as mine…lol

Yeah ok it’s right at the bottom, but i’m pretty pleased with that in just a few hours.

I know a few people have shown quite a bit of interest in this, so I thought I would post and let you know

I have had a few visitors so far, but not sure how long these things take to get moving, PLUS google analytics is always a few hours behind.
