Today I wanted to touch on a subject that I think is VERY important …

BUT …

For some reason, not enough people seem to be doing it!!

Are you backing up your Aweber or autoresponder account?

We ALL know that the largest asset of our online business is our email list, so why do people overlook this?

I know many of you will have external drives plugged into your computers and back up everything you do, but are still not backing up your autoresponder account.  You know how much effort has gone into building this, so I just wanted to create a quick video to show you how to do this in Aweber.

The great thing is, Aweber not only backs up your email addresses, but also your broadcast and sequence messages, email lists … basically everything!

It literally takes 2 minutes (if that), so do yourself a favour and put a task in your calendar to do this once a week.  I know of at least one person that has lost their Aweber list for one reason or another.

Don’t let this be YOU…!!  Back up NOW!

Hey people,

It’s been a couple of weeks since my last post, but I just wanted to get your feedback on something …

I am sure many of you will have different views on this, and I would love to hear them.

I seem to be hearing quite a lot about whether people are using double opt-in, or whether they are using single opt-in for their list building activities …

I have been using double opt-in since my list started, but I notice many people that I speak to regularly are swapping to single opt-in …

OR have built their list using entirely single opt-in.

Admittedly, there is a large percentage of people that don’t actually click the link in the email sent to them for the double opt-in process.

I would say 25-30% of all subscribers don’t confirm their email address …

This is due to people either putting in a false email address, they’re not actually that interested in the information, they don’t realise they have to (even though they get a message that is VERY clear on what they have to do), or purely that they can’t be bothered or forget.

Oh, and one more thing … Aweber seem to take quite a long time to send out the confirmation email.  Maybe only 20-30 seconds which isn’t long on one hand, BUT if someone is there waiting for it that’s way too long in my opinion!!

Why does it take them so long to deliver it?

The only trouble with single opt-in, is that it leaves you wide open to spam complaints, and people putting in false email addresses in order to download your  ebook or whatever.

In the past people have always advised me to go for double opt-in as this is much safer, but I wanted to post here to get your views.

(I’m sure you have one!!)

I am not saying that I am going to change to single opt-in, and I am not saying that I will stick with double opt-in forever either …

BUT, I would like YOUR feedback on the methods YOU use to build your list …

Do you use single or double opt-in?

Have you had any negative effects from using single opt-in (or double for that matter)?

What are your thoughts, whether you are building a list right now, or you are a subscriber to people’s lists?

It seems that single opt-in lists build twice as fast, BUT does a double opt-in list weed out the less serious people by default?

Hey Peeps,

Well, it’s been nearly a month since my last post … (boy how time flies!) … and I just wanted to give you an update of my progress and my plans over the next few weeks …

My list is currently standing at just under 2200 subscribers

I have pretty much been doing much of the same since my last post with regards to list building, and things are starting to move forward much quicker now …

As part of my listbuilding efforts, I have started offering Dean Holland’s “Google Traffic System” as part of my opt-in process.  For those of you that know Dean, you will know the amount of time and effort that he has put into this … and that the quality is top notch, over delivering as always

He is even including his entire coaching program for free as part of this.  If you haven’t already, head over and at least grab the free interview that Dean has done with Lee McIntyre!!

This has resulted in 17 signups to his program in the last 3 weeks alone which is just awesome!

Over the next few weeks, I am planning on creating a video series to complement my ebook “7 Step Success Formula”.  You can download this over to the right of the page if you haven’t already

Just look at all the glowing comments my readers have left!

The exact content of these videos is not entirely fixed at the moment, and I would like you to leave me a comment RIGHT HERE letting me know of things related to my book that you would like me to expand on.  EVERYONE who leaves me a comment will receive a FREE copy of these videos as soon as they are available …

At this second in time, my mailing list stands at 1302 people, and I thought I would write a quick post on how I have achieved this so quickly…

from NOTHING!

My first subscriber on Aweber was on the 22 August 2009. Previous to that I had an account with GetResponse, of which I only managed to move around 20 people over from. Many were VERY old and some were imported from lists etc in a previous lifetime!  I moved to Aweber for the enhanced functionality that they offer over and above other auto responder systems.

So how have I achieved over 1300 subscribers in 9 weeks?

Firstly, I have a ViralHosts account. This is a free hosting program on the surface of it, but you get the ability to email 3000 members every 3 days if you upgrade to the Gold package (which I have done off the back of a VERY high recommendation). This is a OTO of $197.

My first Viral Hosts mailing promoting my 7 Step Success Formula ebook brought me in 72 subscribers (YES you read that correctly) within a couple of days. This has dropped somewhat, but I rarely average less that 30 DOUBLE opt-ins every 3 days from this (It’s mostly 30-40 subscribers!)

Pretty cool HUH?!

ListJoe is another program I am a member of. This also has an upgrade option which works similar to ViralHosts, but I am a free member and will continue to be as I have not found the response to be anywhere near that of ViralHosts.

Even so, you can earn credits by visiting other sites, and mail people once a week from this. This basically equates to around 2000 mailings per week if you visit ALL sites within the emails you receive,  bringing me in another 10 subscribers or so.

You may argue that the quality of these leads are not up to scratch, but I have had 2 upgrades on the Listbuilding With Alex PPP at $47 a pop (and I have only promoted it ONCE to my Viral Hosts list). I normally promote my “7 Step Success Formula” ebook.

I have also been joining pretty much every Giveaway Event I can find, although I do go through stages with this. I am trying to keep my page updated with any new events also. In all honesty, I haven’t found these to bring in bucket loads of subscribers (although I haven’t upgraded many of them), but a slow trickle of a few a day…they all add up

Lastly, I have been doing adswaps at least twice a week ever since I had 400 ish subscribers. I haven’t done any for a couple of days now, BUT will be planning these every 2 days (possibly more) and seeing how this goes!

My plan was 1000 subscribers by the end of October (it’s NOW 1302!!!!), and 3000 by the end of the year. This equates to around 30 subscribers a day from now until the end of the year, which I think can be done easily with all the above in place, and I will be pushing this number FURTHER if I can

Anyway that’s just a quick insight into my list building strategies so far

Just remember to do everything you can to help get your list built FAST. Every little helps, and across many strategies this can soon add up to a ton of subscribers.

I think my best day so far has been 88 opt-ins in a single day…that was a COOOOOL day

We have ALL been told or heard at some stage “The Money is in the List”…

Always remember this, it should be one of your MOST IMPORTANT tasks online!!!
